Kevin Noteman kept up his pre-season good form with a couple of goals in a 3-1 victory. The first came after twenty-five minutes when a rocket shot from Russell Wigley cannoned off the underside of the bar and left him with the easy task of heading into an empty net. A quarter of an hour later he was also the beneficiary of a Bradford defensive error, which he capitalized on by showing good composure to put the ball into the net. The Unlucky Wigley had again been denied by the woodwork and Bradford were fortunate to be only one goal in arrears at half time, when Darren Wardman reduced the arrears from the penalty spot a minute before the break. Len Curtis replaced Scott Blunt at Left Half and Mark Aizlewood replaced Darren Edmonds at Inside Right at half-time. Wigley finally got his name on the scoresheet when he scored with a close range header five minutes in to the second half. Ronnie Sinclair replaced Neil Edwards in goal, Vince Hilaire replaced Gary Speed at Inside Left and and Michael Sloanes replaced Gary Williams at Right Back after seventy minutes. M. Redmile of Halifax was the referee.
